Early Childhood

Worship should be a vital part of every child’s life. Engaging them at an early age requires priority and intention. For this reason, First Presbyterian Church encourages parents to worship together as a family before Sunday School at the 8 or 8:30 a.m. service, or after Sunday School at either the traditional, contemporary or international services at 11 a.m. An enclosed “quiet room” is available on the second floor above Stephenson Hall, and a nursing mother’s lounge is adjacent to the nursery on the first floor of the Kerr Building.

Kingdom Kids

KingdomKids_color.pngKingdom Kids is the area for infants through kindergarten, located on the first floor of the Kerr Building. Take the atrium elevator to level 1R, then go right to the check-in area. First Presbyterian Church has an electronic check-in process for security and safety.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14

Where Can I Take My Young Children On Sundays?

Children are welcome in all worship services. When not in worship, children may go to:

8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

  • Infants-Twos: Childcare provided by loving hearts and hands

9:30 a.m.

  • Infants-Twos: Wee Worship—a music-focused experience to introduce babies to God and His world.
  • Threes- Kindergarten: Sunday School—where we help parents lay a foundation for their young children to have a growing relationship with Jesus. Lessons coordinate with the sermon series. Pre-K and Kindergarten also gain a greater understanding of worship and the doctrines of the faith, as they are prepared to lead in worship through song and service.
