Planting seeds in perpetuity for future generations and extending our blessings beyond our own lives is the essence of stewardship and enlightened giving. Sharing our wealth, both spiritual and material, is a joy we share as disciples of Christ.

The First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa Foundation, established in 1962, consists of five endowment funds that support the life of the Church. Earnings from the Foundation’s endowment funds support the following ministries:

  • Music & Worship: Musical instruments, sound, lighting, stained glass, radio and television ministries, Wiseman Advent & Lenten worship series, and special worship services
  • Scholarship & Education: Higher education scholarships, internships, library resources, and other educational programs
  • Nurture & Care of Families: All-church retreats, wellness ministries, and other nurturing opportunities
  • Mission: Helping Hand Ministries, FPC Habitat for Humanity projects, Vacations with a Purpose, Loughridge Kid’s Camp, pastoral support groups and other mission activities that help put a human face on God’s love for the world
  • Long-term Facility Maintenance & Repair: Operational expenses of the church facilities

The Board of Trustees manages the Foundation funds. The Trustees’ goal is to rely on income from gifts to do God’s work. By managing and investing gifts in this way, the gifts continue to give for years to come (in perpetuity).

Any gift given in a lifetime or at death as a part of an estate plan is considered a Planned Gift. (To achieve an optimum tax benefit and meet your estate plan goals, seek the advice of an attorney or financial planner.) Your Planned Gift is a Legacy Gift that will serve future generations of those who need a hand; bring hope where there has been no hope; and ensure the continuation of God’s work at First Church.

Realizing giving is a joy; our goal is to use your Legacy Gift to support the ministries of First Church. This is a joyous, achievable goal when understanding placing God’s Will in Your Will.

How do I make a Legacy Gift to the Foundation?
There are many ways to make a gift to the Foundation ranging from outright gifts to a simple bequest from your will or a gift from a life income plan. Through a life income plan, you may make a gift of cash, securities, or property; receive income during your lifetime or you may designate others to receive income during their lifetimes. Thereafter, the remainder of your gift will benefit the Foundation.

The Simplest Planned Gift…A Bequest
A bequest is easy to arrange. It is not payable until death, so it does not affect your assets or cash flow during your lifetime.

Planned Gift Language
A Planned Gift (Legacy Gift) to First Presbyterian Church Foundation of Tulsa can be as easy as a single sentence in your will or living trust agreement, such as: “I give to First Presbyterian Church Foundation of Tulsa__________________.” The blank can be filled in with (1) a dollar amount, (2) a property description such as “my real estate” or “my shares of stock in XYZ Corporation” or (3) a percentage of the probate estate remaining after specific gifts such as “25% of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate.”

Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty . . . The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field; it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree . . . Matthew 13:8, 31-32
