Helping Hand Ministry
Combining ministry and mission, Helping Hand helps disadvantaged individuals and families over a temporary crisis. Five mornings a week, compassionate volunteers from First Presbyterian Church assist people in jeopardy of being evicted or having a utility service discontinued, who need a prescription filled or who need food from the pantry. Assistance is limited to one area only and those asking for help are asked to provide social security documentation, a picture I.D., an eviction notice or a utility cut off notice, a doctor's script for prescription medicine and social security documentation for each family member requiring food.
