UKirk University Ministries

Within the larger church community that is First Presbyterian Church, UKirk University Ministries is dedicated to building bridges into students’ lives that will enable them to glorify God during and beyond their college experience. UKirk is primarily supported by a partnership between FPC and the University of Tulsa's Sharp Chalep, and hosts students from ORU, TU, TCC and the OU/OSU/NSU - Tulsa extension campuses. Many college age students have found First Church to be their "home-away-from-home" during their college experience.  As students begin their academic pursuits, our hope is that their foundation of faith established today will stand firm tomorrow.

Weekly Events at TU's Sharp Chapel:

Mondays at noon - Lunch with Calvin

Wednesdays at noon - W.O.W. (Worship on Wednesday)

Thursdays at 11:45 a.m. - Apologetics for Lunch

Thursdays at 9 p.m. - Large Group Worship: Each week university students gather together at 9pm in Sharp Chapel on the campus of the University of Tulsa to celebrate real life in Jesus Christ through humor, song, prayer, teaching and fellowship. Large Group began as "Gateway" worship in 2007 as an outreach to university students, and continues today as a weekly service. It is not a seeker-oriented event, though many have discovered Jesus for the first time in this community experience, and the group celebrates the Lord's Supper once per month. Large group is centered on making Jesus relevant, whether you are unchurched, sitting on the fence, or actively maturing in your faith.

Fridays at noon - UKirk Lunch

Other Opportunities to Get Involved:

Fall Retreat: Every October UKirk holds our fall retreat at New Life Ranch in Western Arkansas. It is an excellent place for students to take a break from their studies, pray and worship, hear from a guest speaker and build relationships. The cost is free and the retreat is open to all college-age students!

Sunday Lunches: Generous members of FPC open up their homes to college students throughout the school year as a time of good food and fellowship. Details are given in our weekly newsletters.

Second Family Program: If you’re from out of town and would like to get connected with a family that can host you for dinner, invite you over for holidays if you’re unable to return home, or help with any needs you might have then talk to Emily Ramsey at emily-ramsey@utulsa.edu or Cory Bys at cory.bys@gmail.com!

Weekly Newsletters: Contact Cory Bys at cory-bys@gmail.com if you would like to receive our weekly newsletters and stay updated on events!

Core Groups: Core groups are one of the best ways to find fellowship, friendship, and learn more about real life in Jesus Christ. Core groups are usually split guys/girls and are usually specific to school year. We have sign-ups the first few weeks of each semester, but groups are open to join at ANY time during the school year!

Sunday Morning Worship: Universtiy students are incouraged to attend any regular worship services at First Presbyterian Church, but many have found a home in the 11:05 contemporary service held in Stephenson Hall. Many students are activly involved in the larger FPC community, and enjoy opportunities like singing and playing in the worship band and working with children and other student through youth ministry.
